Marviin J. Schmidt, 83, died February 20, 2014 at Via Christi St. Franncis iin Wichita. He was born December 11, 1930 in Goessel to Jacob and Martha Goertzen Schmidt. He married Frances Schlup January 20, 1958 at First Baptist Church in Newton. They were married 56 years prior to his passing.
Marvin was retired from the Santa Fe Railfroad where he worked as a car inspector for more than 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton.
Survivors: spouse, Frances Schmidt; daughter, Peggy Blevins (Dan); son, Larry (Tina); sisters, Hilda Voth and Ella Schmidt; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jacob and Martha Schmidt and brother, Otto Schmidt.
Services will be February 25 at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery iin Newton.
