Fey, John A. "Jack"

The Newton Kansan

   John A. "Jack" Fey, 92, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Kansas Christian Home.  He was born September 22, 1912 in Halstead to Carl F. and Florence Gehne Fey.  On September 2, 1945 he married Gertrude "Trudy" Quilty in Newton and she preceded him in death.

   Jack was a retired vice president and cashier at Midland National Bank in Newton.  He served his country i n the United States  Army in World War II being discharged as a staff sergeant.  He was a longtime active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, where he served in many capacities, including office manager from 1983 to 1991.

   Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Newton Rotary Club, former treasurer for the Newton Public Library and a former board member of the Newton Community Theater  In recent years, he served on the board of the Newton Area Senior Center, RSVP and volunteered with the income tax assistance program.  He enjoyed his work with the Harvey County Hospice Board, where he served as treasurer.

   Jack enjoyed his move to the Kansas Christian Home several years ago and all the  friends he made while living on campus.

   Survivors: sons:  Tim Fey of Wichita; Tony Fey of Overland Park; grandsons, Justin Fey and Mathew Fey and brother Bill Fey of Wichita.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy, parents and one brother.

   Funeral Mass will be February 19.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.
