Rose Marie Lindsey, 82, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Newton Medical Centeer. She was born March 20, 1931 in Kingman to John W. and Alvena A. Schulte Wherrell. On May 9, 1954 she married Chester H. Lindsey and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2008.
Rose worked for 34 years at the former Coffee Pot restuarant in Newton. She enjoyed spending time volunteering at the Newton Area Senior Center and Salvation Army. She along with her husband was awarded the Phoenix Award for Volunterism by Newton Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Rose is survived by her son, Clyde and wife, Cyhthia of Wichita; daughter,Vicki Schroeder of Newton; sisters, Catherine Schmidt and Delores Sartain and husband Gene, Newton; 1 grandchild and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 3 brothers, Lloyd, Wilbur and Robert Wherrell; one grandsoon, Shawn Lindsey.
Services will be at Peterson Funeral Chapel with burial at Restlawn Gardens of Memori, rural Newton.
