Kyle Samuel Phillip Herbel

Kyle Samuel Phillip Herbel, 5, 411 W. Broadway, Kindergarten student at Sunset Elementary School, died (Sunday) April 11, 1999) at Columbia Wesley Medical Center.

He was born April 19, 1993, in Newton to Rick and Angela (Boaz) Herbel. They survive of Newton.

He attended Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church, where he had a perfect attendance. He also attended Vacation Bible School. He enjoyed his teachers, classmates, soccer, riding his bicycle and fishing.

Other survivors include: one sister, Deidra Herbel and one brother, Derrick Herbel, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Gibson and Marylin Boaz of Canton; maternal great-grandparents, Dorothy Whitley and Ruth Proctor, both of Mulvane; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Mary Jane Herbel of Hillsboro; paternal great-grandparents, Lena Herbel of Hillsboro and Rachel Keller of Marion; seven uncles; and five aunts.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton with the Revs. Ronald Gloe of the church and John Ryding of Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Kyle Herbel Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
