Dorothy May Schill

Dorothy May Schill, 74, 1904 Cypress Lane, retired Bell telephone operator and USD 373 food service, died Saturday (April 10, 1999) at her residence in Newton.

She was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Newton to Reed E. and Mary M. (Coble) Weesner. She married John J. Schill April 25, 1947, in Newton. He survives of Newton.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella, both of the church, Newton Public Golf Course and Ladies Newton Golf. She was a 1943 graduate of Newton High School.

She had a large doll collection and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidering quilts, flower gardening, walking, working on jigsaw puzzles, using coupons for discounts and sweets.

Other survivors include: two sons, Danny Schill of Spring Hill and Patrick Schill of Hesston; four daughters, Susan Dorr, Judy Kerr and Mary Schill, all of Wichita and Yvonne Davis of Newton; two sisters, Arlene Baxter of ElSegundo, Calif., and Beverly Wildoner of Federal Way, Wash.; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three-great-grandchildren.

Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday also at the church with Rev. Ken Schuckman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with St. Mary's Catholic Church Debit Fund or Central Homecare and Hospice in care of the funeral home.
