Charity Irene Troyer
HESSTON -- Charity Irene Troyer, 92, of
Hesston, homemaker who formerly taught elementary school for about
seven years, died Sunday (April 18, 1999) at Schowalter Villa in
Hesston.
She was born Aug. 3, 1906, near Kalona,
Iowa, to Amos and Nannie (Yoder) Gingerich. She married Menno M.
Troyer June 6, 1937, in Hesston. He preceded her in death March 16,
1992.
She grew up in Versailles, Mo. She and
her husband lived near Inman until 1960, and then moved to LaJunta,
Colo. They moved to Hesston in 1975. She was a member of Whitestone
Mennonite Church in Hesston and was active in organizations of the
church and also the Golden Agers in Hesston.
Survivors include: two daughters,
Leabell Miller of Fairview, Mich., and Marilyn Hartman of Haven; two
sons, Curtis Troyer of Middlebury, Ind., and Paul Troyer of Lakewood,
Colo.; two sisters, Eunice Histand of Goshen, Ind., and Lois Bender
of Wellman, Iowa; four brothers, Leroy Gingerich of Versailles, Mo.,
Paul Gingerich of Hesston, Simon Gingerich of Elkhart, Ind., and
Clayton Gingerich of Mountain Home, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; and 21
great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three
brothers, Fred Gingerich, Truman Gingerich and Orie Gingerich; and
four grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be
at 9 a.m. Wednesday at West Liberty Cemetery near Inman. Memorial
service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitestone Mennonite Church
with the Revs. Louise Wideman and Michael Bogard officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today
and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
Memorials have been established with
Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Mennonite Board of Missions
or Schowalter Villa in care of the funeral home.
