Elsie M. Sloan
Elsie M. Sloan, 90, 1035 S.E. Third,
real estate broker and owner of Sloan Real Estate, where she started
in 1955 and retired in 1985, died Sunday (May 2, 1999) at Kansas
Christian Home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1908, in
Cherokee, Okla., to Ezra Lee and Ida Alice (Lehman) Gibson. She
married Delmar J. Sloan Nov. 4, 1928, in Enid, Okla. He preceded her
in death Feb. 4, 1988.
She was a member of First Christian
Church and a charter member of the local branch of Soroptimist
International, serving as president from 1967 to 1968, and the Mail
Clerks Auxiliary.
She enjoyed painting, knitting,
gardening and her roses.
Survivors include: one son, Herbert
Sloan Sr., of Wichita; two daughters, Imogene M. Bueker of Newton and
Patricia Ann Osborne of Commerce City, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was
preceded in death by six brothers, Charley Gibson, Ernest Gibson,
Floyd Gibson, Glenn Gibson, Russel Gibson and Wilbur Gibson; and one
sister, Mable Gibson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at First Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. MyCherie
Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and
9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
Fellowship of John of the Kansas Christian Home in care of the
funeral home.
