   Lou Gomez, Sr., 89 of Newton passed away April 1, 2014.  A Rosary servcice will be April 3 at Our Lady of Gaudalupe Catholic Church, and a funeral mass will be April 4, 2014.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

   Lou Gomez was born to Antonia and Irene Gomez on January 9, 1925.  He married Frances Nunez on June 19, 1948 in Newton.  He workd for Santa Fe, retiring in 1998.  He was a veteran of World War.  He served in the Army.

   He was very involved with his church all his life and was a part of the Adoration Chapel.  He also volunteered at Northview Developmental Services and for the Special Olympics.  He believed in helping everyone and shared his big heart with countless people.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tony, Greg and John Gomez and sister, Nancy Gomez Oropesa.

  Survivors; Wife Frances; children Lou Gomez, Jr. (Elizabeth); Ventura Porter (Warren); Gilbert Gomez and Victoria Adame (Frank), and numerous grandchildren.
