Harvey G. Schmidt
HUTCHINSON -- Harvey G. Schmidt, 74,
died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) at Good Samaritan Village in Hutchinson.
He was the brother of Lloyd Schmidt of Newton.
He was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Lehigh to
Pete and Eva (Goertz) Schmidt. He married Hunora Unruh Jan. 18, 1946,
in Halstead. She preceded him in death March 22, 1987.
He lived in Hutchinson for 30 years,
moving from Kinsley. He worked in maintenance of long distance
equipment for Southwestern Bell for 41 years. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of Congregational
Church in Kinsley. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World
War II.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Frederic L. Schmidt of McPherson, Michael L. Schmidt of Strong City
and Donald L. Schmidt of Inman; three daughters, Vicki L. Tracy and
Becki L. Ackley, both of Hutchinson, and Kristi L. Oxley of Cedar
Hill, Texas; two sisters, Esther Plenert of Hillsboro and Dorothy
Laird of McPherson; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Fairlawn Burial Park with Pastor Robert Albin presiding.
Military honors will be given by Ft. Riley Honor guard.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at
Johnson and Sons Funeral Home in Hutchinson.
Memorials have been established with
Good Samaritan Village in care of the funeral home.
