Ray L. Hackenberg
HESSTON — Ray L. Hackenberg, 76,
superintendent of utilities
for the City of Hesston for 25 years,
died Sunday (May 16, 1999) at his
home in Hesston.
He was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Hesston
to Roy C. and Rosa (Landis)
Hackenberg. He married Eleanor Zook
Sept. 29, 1946, in Hesston. She survives.
He was a lifetime Hesston resident. He
was a volunteer fireman
and had served the City of Hesston for
40 years. He was a member of Hesston
United Methodist Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World
War II for 37 months
as a motor machinist first class.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Michael Hackenberg of Richmond,
Calif., and Patrick Hackenberg of
Manhattan; and two sisters, Arlene Doty
of Hesston and Waneta Showalter of
Hutchinson. He was preceded in death
by two sisters.
Graveside services and burial will be
at 4 p.m. Wednesday at
Hesston Cemetery. Memorial service will
be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hesston
United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Ronald Rich officiating.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday with family greeting

Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
Memorials have been established with
the Scholarship Fund of
the Hesston United Methodist Church or
Harvey County Central Homecare and
Hospice in care of the funeral home.
