Francis J. Walters, 89, died December 23, 2012 at Topeka St. Francis Health Centeer. He was born December 8, 1923 in Hays, son of Jacob Peter and Amalia Staab Walters. He owned and operated the Halstead Hospital Coffee Shop for 28 years and the Shawnee County Court Hoouse Snack Bar for 8 years.
Frank married Betty Marie Schmich on November 16, 1968 at Herculaneum, Missouri. she survives: other survivors: daughters, Shelia (Darrell) Stevenson of Branson, Missouri and Brenda (Steve( Dunning of Hutchinson; brother, George Walters of Placentia, California; sister, Alice Gerstner of Amarillo, Texas; 5 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry J. Walters on November 20, 1986; 6 brothers; Clarence, Ray Walter, Bill, Herb and Edward Walters and sister Luella Kuhn.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday December 28 at St. Mathew Catholic Church. Graveside inurnment was held at the Halstead Cemetery in Halstead on Saturday, December 29.
