Bill Fiedler
McPHERSON -- Bill Fiedler, 79, of
McPherson died Sunday (May 30, 1999) at St. Francis Regional Medical
Center in Wichita.
He was born May 17, 1920, in Newton to
William Fred Fiedler Sr. and Katie (Lust) Fiedler. He was a retired
barber, having barbered in Newton, Marion, Moundridge, Wichita,
Anthony, Winfield and McPherson. He also worked for Swick Guth Inc.
Machine Shop as a machinist prior to working for McPherson County
Highway Department as a dispatcher.
He lived in McPherson since 1974,
having moved from Anthony. He was a member of First United Methodist
Church in McPherson, McPherson Senior Center and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 2715 of McPherson. He served in the U.S. Navy on
the USS Tucson during World War II.
On Jan. 12, 1963, he married Arlys
Gustafson in Newton. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: a son, Barry
Fiedler of Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Pamela Gould of Flower Mound,
Texas; two step-sons, Larrel Krehbiel and Jay Krehbiel, both of
McPherson; a foster son, Carl Nelson of Coranado, Calif.; a sister,
Lu Rickenberg of San Diego; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
The funeral service will be at 10:30
a.m. Thursday at the Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson with the Rev.
Larry Harvey officiating.
A private family burial will be at the
McPherson Cemetery in McPherson at a later date.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday at the Glidden-Ediger Chapel, 222 W. Euclid in McPherson,
with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established with
the McPherson Senior Center.
