Dr. Herbert R. Schmidt
Dr. Herbert R. Schmidt, 95, 3001 Ivy
Drive, Apt. 303, in North Newton, former medical doctor at Bethel
Clinic in Newton, died Tuesday (June 8, 1999) at Kidron Bethel Health
Care.
He was born Aug. 25, 1903, in Canton to
John J. and Elizabeth (Rempel) Schmidt. He married Mariam Penner Aug.
24, 1932, in North Newton. She preceded him in death April 10, 1993.
He was a member of Bethel College
Mennonite Church, American Medical Association, Kansas University
Alumni Association, co-founder of Bethel Clinic in Newton,
Kansas-Paraguay Partnership, past member of Mennonite Board of
Missions, Paul Harris Fellow-Rotary, Kansas City Urological Society,
Southwest Surgical Society, Deutsche Urologische Gesellshaft and
Vienna Surgical Society.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan
Rhoades of Newton; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Madalyn Ensz.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.
Friday at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton with Pastor
Darrell Fast officiating.
There will be a private internment.
Memorials have been established with
Central Homecare and Hospice or Kidron Bethel Village Expansion
Project in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
