Catherine 'Katie' Curiel
HUTCHINSON -- Catherine "Katie"
Curiel, 85, homemaker, died Friday (June 25, 1999) at Hospice
Residential Care Center in Hutchinson.
She was born May 18, 1914, in Halstead
to Claudio M. and Florentina (Raya) Lopez. She married Manuel G.
Curiel June 1, 1931, in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death Jan. 10,
1997.
She had lived in Hutchinson most all of
her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church
and Altar Society, both of Hutchinson.
Survivors include: five sons, Severo
Curiel, formerly of Newton, Manuel Curiel Jr., Pete Curiel, Edward
Curiel and Rudy Curiel, all of Hutchinson; five daughters, Micaela
Garcia, Carmen Vieyra, Mary Colby, Linda Pina and Juanita Brown, all
of Hutchinson; 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 20
great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a step-mother,
Cecelia Lopez; two sons, Richard Curiel and Johnny Curiel; one
daughter, Angel Curiel; and two sisters, Josephine Flores and Sophia
Lopez.
Parish Rosary was Sunday at Johnson and
Sons Funeral Home in Hutchinson. Funeral Mass was today at Our Lady
of Guadalupe Catholic Church in South Hutchinson with Father Colin
Boor officiating. Burial was in the Eastside Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or Hospice of Reno County in
care of the funeral home.
