Violet H. 'Vi' Donaldson
Violet H. "Vi" Donaldson, 84,
of Newton, died Wednesday (June 30, 1999) at her home in Newton.
She was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Bushong
to Guy Alexander and Laura (Emmel) Huston. She married John Donald
"Don" Donaldson Feb. 14, 1932, in Wichita. He preceded her
in death Jan. 21, 1982.
She was employed at J.C. Penney's,
Faye's Dress Shop and Horn's Jewelry and Gift. She was a member of
First Baptist Church and To-Kalon Club, both of Newton. She was past
president of PTA in McPherson and past co-leader of Girl Scout Troop
in Newton.
Survivors include: one son, Jerry
Donaldson of Falls Church, Va.; two daughters, Joyce Pyonk of
Davison, Mich., and Judy Winsky of Newton; seven grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her
parents; one daughter, Laura Lynn Donaldson; one brother, Vernon
Huston; and one sister, Belvia Stockham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Alden Dick
from First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn
Gardens of Memory in Newton. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today
with family greeting friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral
home.
Memorials have been established with
First Baptist Church and American Diabetes Association in care of the
funeral home.
