Thelma A. Roy

Thelma A. Roy, 86, 1204 S. Popular, former interior decorator for Sherwin Williams in Newton, died Sunday (July 11, 1999) at her residence.

She was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Wilsey to William and Katherine (Cook) Kennedy. She married Lloyd Findley Roy Jan. 20, 1938, in Wilsey. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1967.

She was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton and the Newton Fine Arts Association, where she was former manager for Newton Carriage Factory Gallery.

Survivors include: one son, Michael Roy of Indianapolis; two daughters, Linda Good and Shannon Roy, both of Topeka; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Kennedy and Percel Kennedy.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Swender officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Wilsey Cemetery in Wilsey.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Newton Fine Arts Association, Trinity Heights United Methodist Church or Newton Public Library in care of the funeral home.
