Sanford Ellwood Miller
HESSTON -- Sanford Ellwood Miller, 83,
of Hesston, former farmer and social worker for Youth Center in
Topeka, died Wednesday (July 14, 1999) at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus.
He was born May 20, 1916, in Protection
to S. Enos and Ursula (Miller) Miller. He married Berta I. Selzer
Dec. 28, 1941, in Protection. She survives of Hesston.
He was a member of Bethel College
Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kiwanis Club and Retired Senior
Volunteer Program, both of Newton.
He also worked at Civilian Public
Service for 4 years, minister for 3 years and social worker for 24
years. He was a volunteer for American Red Cross, Schowalter Villa in
Hesston and St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
Other survivors include: two sons,
Stanley E. Miller of Lyons and Stephen D. Miller of Protection; two
daughters, Barbara L. Callahan of Topeka and Rebecca L. Frederick of
Wimberly, Texas; one sister, Lahla Selzer of Hesston; 11
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Bethel College Mennonite Church with Dr. Darrel Fast
officiating.
