Elsie M. Anderson

Elsie M. Anderson, 80, 1104 Allison in Newton, died Saturday (July 24, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Goessel to Deitrich D. and Louise (Warnke) Reimer. She married Clarence M. Anderson Sept. 1, 1940, in Goessel. He died Dec. 27, 1997. She was a homemaker and member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. She participated in Ma's Night Out Pinochle Club for more than 50 years in Newton. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Survivors include: two daughters, Charlene Rodriguez of Newton and Genelle Robertson of Edmond, Okla.; two sisters, Linda Anderson of Newton and Mildred Nitsch of Salina; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peterson Funeral Home with retired Pastor Verney Unruh from First Mennonite Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.

Memorials may be made to First Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
