Bernice Gibson Taylor
MEDICINE LODGE -- Bernice Gibson
Taylor, 79, of Medicine Lodge, died Sunday (Aug. 1, 1999) at Kidron
Bethel Health Care Center in North Newton.
She was born July 23, 1920, in Clay
Center to George W. and Grace (Walker) Bale. She married Clyde L.
Gibson Feb. 10, 1945. He preceded her in death July 1972. She married
Oscar Taylor March 2, 1974. He survives.
She had been a resident of Medicine
Lodge since 1954, moving from Isabel. She was a junior high school
teacher, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of United Methodist
Church in Medicine Lodge, life member of Lorraine chapter No. 39
Order of Eastern Star, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Chapter Nu Epsilon
of Beta Sigma Phi. She received her 50 year pin in 1996 in Eastern
Star and had been worthy matron in 1958 at Isabel Eastern Star.
Other survivors include: one son,
Thomas L. Gibson of Newton; one step-son, Jerry Taylor of Lubbock,
Texas; four step-daughters, Barbara Harbaugh of Sharon, Joan Myers of
Mountainview, Calif., Sue Gates of San Jaun Capistrono, Calif., and
Gloria Taylor of Redding, Calif.; one brother, Dr. George W. Bale of
Germantown, Tenn.; two grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; and 48
step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.
Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Medicine Lodge with the Rev.
Jim Godbey officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in
Medicine Lodge.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at
Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home in Medicine Lodge.
Memorials have been established with
United Methodist Church, USD 254, and Medicine Lodge Golf Club in
care of the funeral home.
