Ferd S. Goertzen
GOESSEL -- Ferd S. Goertzen, 89, of
Goessel, retired carpenter, died Sunday (Aug. 15, 1999) at Newton
Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 20, 1909, in Marion
County to Jacob and Helena (Schmidt) Goertzen. He married Linda
Buller March 31, 1932, in Goessel. She survives of North Newton.
He was a member of Alexanderwohl
Mennonite Church. He was a lifetime Goessel, Hillsboro and Newton
area resident. He lived at 120 Alice in Newton before moving to
Bethesda Home in Goessel March 1.
Other survivors include: one son,
Donald Goertzen of Newport, Wash.; one daughter, Meretta Ortiz of
Newton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be
10 a.m. Friday at Alexanderwohl Cemetery in rural Goessel. Memorial
service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church
with Revs. James Dunn and Mark Wiens officiating.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m.
Thursday at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel.
Memorials have been established with
Bethesda Home in care of the funeral home.
