Leonard Lee Rodgers

BOISE, Idaho -- Leonard Lee Rodgers, 71, died Sunday (Aug. 15, 1999) at his home in Boise, Idaho, of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Newton to Leonard Lee Sr. and Lillian Elvira (Patrick) Rodgers. He married Roberta G. McGuire Sept. 9, 1955. She survives of Boise.

He grew up in Newton and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950, where he became a Machinist Mate Third Class on the destroyer, USS Floyd B. Parks. He remained on the ship until he was honorably discharged in March 1955.

He returned to Newton and worked for Santa Fee Railroad. In 1956, he worked for Guerdon Industries in Newton and was later transferred in February 1958, to Guerdon in Boise. He worked there until 1990. He also worked at Nashua Mobile Homes in Boise until his death.

He enjoyed gardening and horses.

Other survivors include: four sons, Steven Rodgers and Matt Rodgers, both of Boise, Idaho, Chris Rodgers of Kuna, Idaho, and Eric Rodgers of Middleton, Idaho; three brothers, Alvin Rodgers, Charles Rodgers and Harold Rodgers, all of Newton; two sisters, Neva Riley and Doris Bazil, both of Newton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin Lester Rodgers and Henry Hershey Rodgers; and one grandson, Steven Wade Rodgers.

Funeral services were at Mountain View Funeral Home in Boise. Private family burial was in the Melba Cemetery in Boise.
