Max F. Utz
Max F. Utz, 87, formerly of 1104 E.
Broadway, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at Newton Presbyterian Manor.
He was born Aug. 6, 1912, in Newton to
Everet C. and Inez A. (Kinnear) Utz. He married Lydia J. "L.J."
Long July 26, 1936, in Hutchinson. She survives of Newton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World
War II from 1943 to 1946. He was a police officer in Newton, retiring
in 1975 after 25 years of service.
He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 706
and American Legion, both of Newton. He also was a member of the
Kansas Peace Officers Association.
Other survivors include two sisters,
Marion Nickel and Myra Utz, both of Newton. He was preceded in death
by his parents.
Graveside services and burial will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Ray
Young officiating.
Memorials have been established with
Wichita Children's Home or Harvey County Sheriff's Reserve in care of
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
