Betty Jane Bailey
Betty Jane Bailey, 71, 1010 E. Eighth,
retired from USD 373,after more than 20 years, died Tuesday (Sept.
28, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Abilene
to John Ronald and Dorothy May (Williams) Dougherty. Her mother
survives of Newton. She married Sam Bailey Nov. 27, 1947, in Newton.
He survives of Newton.
She was a member of Newton Church of
God, assistant director of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program,
president of Women of Church of God Missionary Group and Friendship
Circle officer.
She was a Sunday school teacher, piano
teacher and church pianist. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers and
gardening.
Other survivors include: one son, Glen
S. Bailey of Wichita; two daughters, Linda J. Hahn of Katy, Texas,
and Nancy J. Mitzel of Newton; two sisters, Alice Perry of Newton and
Anna McLemore of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and one
daughter, Theresa R. Dossett.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday
at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Barker from
First Church of God in Newport, Tenn. officiating. Burial will be in
the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m.

Home.
