Robert Allen 'Bob' Charlsen
TOPEKA -- Robert Allen "Bob"
Charlsen, 70, died Thursday (Sept. 30, 1999) at his residence in
Topeka.
He was born March 29, 1929, in Newton
to Charles W. and Anna Fay (Crowbarger) Charlsen. He married Wilma M.
Portlock Sept. 16, 1951, in Newton. She survives of the home.
He lived in Newton, moving to Topeka in
1954. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korea
Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, both of Newton. He was a heavy equipment operator and
also a member of Local No. 101, Operating Engineers.
Other survivors include: two daughters,
Kathi M. Rakestraw of Tecumseh and Debra K. Payne of Topeka; two
brothers, C.W. Charlsen of Newton and George Charlsen of Wichita; one
sister, Georgia Tigner of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m.
Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. U.S. Army Detail from Fort
Riley will conduct military graveside honors at Rochester Cemetery in
Topeka.
