Charles W. Schmidt
HESSTON -- Charles W. Schmidt, 85, a
23-year employee of the former Hesston Corp., retiring in 1984, died
Thursday (Sept. 30, 1999) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
He was born March 8, 1914, in rural
Walton to Cornelius H. and Katherine (Voth) Schmidt. He married Edna
Berg Sept. 18, 1938. She preceded him in death in 1991.
He lived in Hesston for many years.
Before working at Hesston Corp., he worked at the Harvey County
Highway Department. He was a member of College Mennonite Church in
Hesston.
Survivors include: one son, Richard
Schmidt of Bozeman, Mont.; three daughters, Jeanne Banulski of
Dixmont, Maine, Marilyn Ruby of N. Aurora, Ill., and Carol Sooby of
Newton; four brothers, Harold Schmidt of Hesston, Clarence Schmidt of
Ferndale, Wash., Milton Schmidt of Walton and Earl Schmidt of Pawnee
Rock; two sisters, Elsie Zielke of Newton and Edna Schrag of Wichita;
eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Monday at College Mennonite Church in Hesston with Pastor John Murry
officiating. Burial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Walton
Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral
Home in Hesston.
Memorials have been established with
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Camp Mennoscah in care of the funeral
home.
