E. Maxine Querbach
E. Maxine Querbach, 85, died Wednesday
(Oct. 6, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1913, to Ollie
Stanton and Inez (Crume) Brumfield. She married John Querbach in
1939. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She grew up on a farm west of Jetmore.
She was a 1936 graduate of Fort Hays State College. She taught first
grade at Ness City.
She and her husband farmed south of
Hanston. She returned to teaching at Hanston High School, due to the
wartime teacher shortage. She later taught at Fullerton and Pleasant
View, one room rural schools in Hodgeman County. She retired in 1975.
She and her husband moved from the farm to Hanston in 1976. In 1995
she moved to Newton.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry
Querbach of Albuquerque, N.M., and Joe Querbach of Wichita; one
daughter, Marjorie Delker of Newton; one sister, Frances Plummer of
Easton, Md.; one brother, Loyd Brumfield of Beaumont, Texas; seven
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in
death by one brother, Pat Brumfield; and one granddaughter.
Memorial services will be in Hanston at
a later date.

Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
