Rhonda Lerane Whitney
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Rhonda
Lerane Whitney, 27, of Colorado Springs, who lived in Newton as a
child, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999). She is the niece of Carl,
George and Tony McCurdy, all of Newton.
She was born March 12, 1972, in Newton.
She was raised in Granby, Colo., and graduated from Middle Park High
School. After graduation, she moved to Colorado Springs and worked as
a group leader for a daycare. She later changed careers and went into
nursing. She married Brian Alan Whitney Oct. 6, 1995, in Colorado
Springs. He and their unborn child, Kayla Whitney, also died Oct. 6,
1999.
Survivors include: two sons, Tyler
Whitney and Devin Whitney; her parents, Vernon and Carin McCurdy,
Aaron and Elaine Martin and Donna and Michael Klose; a sister, Brenda
Sue Martin; a brother, Keith Martin; a half sister, Brandi McCurdy;
two half brothers Brian McCurdy and Roy McCurdy; her grandparents
Dale and Camilla Weber, Sharron Chorake and Harold Martin; her
great-grandmothers Ida Weber and Marie Martin; a stepbrother, Jeremy
Klose; two stepsisters, Jenesa Klose and Jessica Klose; and numerous
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday (Oct.
10, 1999) at United Methodist Church in Eads, Colo., with Rev. John
Nadasi officiating. Interment followed at Eads Cemetery.
