Nora L. Ortmann
Nora L. Ortmann, 93, of Newton, school
teacher and homemaker, died Thursday (Oct. 14, 1999) at Presbyterian
Manor.
She was born Jan. 30, 1906, in Albert
to Julius Leonard and Martha Amanda (Grunewald) Schroeder. She
married Herman Ortmann Sept. 30, 1927, in Dodge City. He preceded her
in death Aug. 13, 1986.
She was a 1923 graduate of Great Bend
High School. She moved to Dodge City in 1927, and to Newton in 1946.
She attended Fort Hays Teachers College and formerly taught school in
Rush County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Newton, United Methodist Women's Unit Circle, Atelier Club, Harmony
Homemakers EHU and Post Office Auxiliary, where she was formerly
active in postal auxiliary groups of supervisors and clerk carriers.
Survivors include: one son, Dean
Ortmann of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Donna Woelk of
Newton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also
was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Schroeder and Trois
Schroeder.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the retired Rev. Phil
Chastain from United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services
will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Albert Community Cemetery in Albert.
Friends may all from 1 to 5 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral
Home.

First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
