Lawerence E. 'Curly' Sims
Lawerence E. "Curly" Sims,
84, of Newton, former employee of Moore's IGA grocery store, died
Sunday (Oct. 17, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born March 28, 1915, in McComb,
Ill., to Strouder O. and Anna Alein (Riggs) Sims. He married Betty
Sturtz Jan. 28, 1938, in Newkirk, Okla. She survives of Newton.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran
Church and American Legion, both of Newton. He was manager of Tar's,
Neimer's and Savon grocery stores. He served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Larry L. Sims of Topeka, Richard E. Sims of Winfield and Randall Sims
of Bartlesville, Okla.; one sister, Mary Brister of Ukiah, Calif.;
and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Frank
from Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the
Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton. Friends may call from 1 to 9
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Peace Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
