Melvin J. Peters
Melvin J. Peters, 77, of Newton,
farmer, stockman and carpenter, died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999) at Newton
Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Goessel
to John E. and Bertha (Becker) Peters. He married Wilma Laubhan June
22, 1947, in Marion. She survives of Newton.
He was a member of Tabor Mennonite
Church. He was a lifetime Newton area resident.
Other survivors include: three sons,
Don Peters of Newton, Ron Peters of Leon and Larry Peters of Benton;
one daughter, Joyce Demo of El Dorado; two brothers, Victor Peters of
Hesston and Elmer Peters of Emporia; three sisters, Laura Foth of
Newton, Ruth Fiedler of Wichita and Luella Dyck of Moundridge; 11
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m.
Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the retired Chaplain Rev.
Robert Suderman from Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis
Campus in Wichita. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today
and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.
