Virgil E. 'Chuck' Paulson

Virgil E. "Chuck" Paulson, 84, 1215 N. Magnolia, died Friday (Oct. 22, 1999) at his home.

He was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Elbing to Emmett Peder and Lillian (Rhoades) Paulson.

He was a member of the Newton VFW and American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran from World War II. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad and Harvey County as a road crewman.

Survivors include: two sons, Arthur "Mutt" E. Paulson of Mustang, Okla., and Del K. Paulson of Wetmore; two daughters, Virgie Sue Clay of Newton and Marjorie Ann Rogers of Andover; one brother, Boyd J. Paulson of Newton; three sisters, Phyllis Roberts of Newton, Grace Fick of Tulsa, Okla., and Dorothy Strain of Stockton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daugther, Janet Lee Paulson; three brothers, Lee Paulson, Merle Paulson and Ronald Paulson; and two sisters, Pauline LaMons and Fern Kennell.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, with Chaplain Lloyd Miller, district chaplain for the Veterans of Foreign Wars officiating.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established with Central Homecare and Hospice and the VFW Children's Home in care of the funeral home.
