George H. 'Tom' Westerhaus
George H. "Tom" Westerhaus,
79, 313 W. Broadway, owned and operated Westerhaus Real Estate Agency
in Newton for more than 20 years, retiring in 1975, died Saturday
(Oct. 30, 1999) at his residence.
He was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Abilene
to George Bernard and Cora (Sullivan) Westerhaus. He married
Catherine K. Kannapel April 15, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic Church
in Newton. She survives of Newton.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Knights of Columbus, where he was a fourth degree member and
the Legion of Mary and Perpetual Adoration program, all in Newton.
Other survivors include: one sister,
Anna Jean Williams of Garden City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; and one sister, Alyce Foss.
Recitation of Rosary will be 8 p.m.
today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton. Funeral services will
be 10 a.m. Tuesday also at the church with the Rev. Ken Schuckman
officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call until 6 p.m. today at
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
