Bertha Gaeddert Penner

HESSTON -- Bertha Gaeddert Penner, 99, a homemaker, died Sunday (Nov. 21, 1999) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

She was born Dec. 27, 1899, on a farm near Moundridge to David and Agatha (Regier) Gaeddert. She married Frank Penner March 18, 1928, in Inman. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1998.

She was a member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church near Inman.

She lived in Moundridge and Inman area until 1960, moving to Newton and then to Hesston in 1982.

Survivors include: one son, Milferd Penner of Inman; two daughters, Marvella Ratzlaff of Moundridge and Rachel Schmidt of Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church with the Rev. Dean Linsenmeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Hoffnungsau Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials have been established with Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in care of Miller Funeral Home in Hesston.
