George R. Jones
WHITEWATER -- George R. Jones, 80, a
resident at Wheatstate Manor in Whitewater, died Thursday (Nov. 25,
1999) at Wheatstate Manor.
He was born June 28, 1919, in Wichita
to Milton and Susan (Jones) Jones. He married LeMoyne Rickman May 1,
1953, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives of Newton.
He attended Wichita public schools and
was a student for one year at Kansas Newman College in Wichita. He
served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II as a seaman
first class.
He attended Episcopal Church and
enjoyed playing chess, bridge and other card games, tennis, ping pong
and football. He built a go-cart and also started an upholstery
business in California from his home. He was a computer technician
for Rockwell International in Anaheim, Calif.
Other survivors include: three
daughters, Martha Jost of Tulsa, Okla., Denise Conyers of Kechi, and
Debra Fraydouni of Newton; five grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, seven sisters and three brothers.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the
graveside in Greenwood Cemetery. Pastor Mark Waner of Word of Life
Church in Wichita will preside. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Military graveside service will be provided by the American Legion
Wayne G. Austin, Post 2 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Whitsell-Finnell Post 971, both of Newton.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m.

Memorials have been established with
the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
