Hulda Decker
Hulda Decker, 82, of Newton, retired
central service supervisor at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton,
died Wednesday (Jan. 5, 2000) at Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Sept. 3, 1917, in rural
Tampa to Alfred and Susie (Redger) Jantz. She married Roland R.
Decker Sept. 3, 1939, at Friedenstal Mennonite Church in Tampa. He
survives of Newton.
She was a member of First Mennonite
Church in Newton. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and
gardening.
Other survivors include: one daughter,
Teresa Brennan of Spokane, Wash.; two sons, Jerry Decker of North
Newton and Ron Decker of Newton; two brothers, Harold Jantz of North
Newton and Melvin Jantz of Moundridge; three sisters, Verna Decker of
Hesston, Elvera Dirks of Topeka and Darlene Unruh of Hillsboro; two
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
parents.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m.
Saturday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with Pastor Rusty Bonham
and Chaplain Verney Unruh officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn
Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday with family greeting friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at
Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
First Mennonite Church or Special Care Unit at Presbyterian Manor in
care of the funeral home.
