LaVera A. Stineman-Good
Lavera A. Stineman-Good, 86, of Newton,
died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Presbyterian Manor.
She was born April 2, 1913, in Newton
to James D. and Inez B. (Elder) Hall. She married Oliver E. Stineman
Aug. 16, 1932, in Wellington. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 1984.
She married Ralph G. Good Feb. 9, 1992, in Newton. He also preceded
her in death Feb. 22, 1992.
She was a member of First Christian
Church in Newton, board of directors of the church, Christian Women's
Fellowship and Harvey County election board.
She retired from J.C. Penney's in 1982.
She was a 1931 graduate of Newton High School, where she was class
treasurer.
Survivors include: three sons, Gordon
Stineman and Dick Stineman, both of Newton and John Stineman of
Pratt; four sisters, Maxine Ropp of Halstead, Bobbie Stineman of
Davenport, Iowa, Fern Lingnau of Ponca City, Okla., and Edith Harper
of Chevy Chase, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her
parents; one daughter, Jane Ann Stineman; two brothers, Gene Hall and
Verlin Hall; and one sister, Ruth Van Horn.
Funeral services will at 2 p.m. Tuesday
at First Christian Church in Newton with the Rev. MyCherie Zimmerman
officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at
Petersen Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with
First Christian Church or Kansas Christian Home Auxiliary in care of
the funeral home.
