Florence Emma Bailey
WHITEWATER -- Florence Emma Bailey, 95,
of Whitewater, died Friday (Jan. 7, 2000) in Whitewater.
She was born Sept. 28, 1904, in
Scribner, Neb., to John Herman and Elizabeth Mary (Knust) Eberhard.
She married Herman Bruhn Jan. 26, 1928. He preceded her in death
Sept. 10, 1972. She married Floyd V. Bailey April 14, 1973. He also
preceded her in death June 25, 1976.
She attended grade school and was a
1923 graduate of Whitewater High School. She attended Emporia State
Teacher's College and taught school for two years at Green Valley
near Whitewater. She attended Wichita Business College for 6 months.
She was a former secretary for Brown
Motor Co, in Wichita.
She was a member of Federated Church,
Federated Women's Fellowship, Kid's Club Homebuilders, Plus and Minus
Club and American Legion Auxiliary, where she was a member for 53
years.
She was city treasurer of Whitewater
for 33 years, from 1949 to 1982, and was Sunday school superintendant
of the church for 30 years.
She had lived in Whitewater since 1908.
She enjoyed working in her yard with flowers and helping at Wheat
State Manor. She moved to Wheat State Manor Aug. 14, 1991.
Survivors include: one daughter, Rogene
Fell of Hays; one brother, Rollen Eberhard of Whitewater; one
granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were today at
Federated Church in Whitewater with the Rev. Scott Martin
offficiating. Burial was in the Whitewater Cemtery.
Memorials have been established with
Wheat State Manor Van Fund or Federated Church Restroom Fund in care
of Bob Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater.
