James N. Smith
James N. Smith, 51, of Newton, died
Thursday (Jan. 13, 2000) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St.
Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born March 12, 1948, in
Jacksonville Beach, Fla., to Charles Kenneth and Artis Mildred
(Randle) Smith. His mother survives of Newton.
He moved to Newton December 1994 from
Salt Lake City, Utah. He enjoyed fishing, music and fitness.
Other survivors include: two sons,
James C. Smith of Tennessee, and Shawn Smith of Newton; five
brothers, Rick Morray and Robert Smith, both of Newton, Jerry Smith
of Baldenville, Wis., John Smith of Hesston and Kenneth Smith; three
sisters, Josie Holm of Peabody and Debbie Smith and Donna Wallin,
both of Newton; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father
and two nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday
at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerrol Martens from
Meridian Baptist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be in the
Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m.
Sunday and Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established with
American Lung Association or American Heart Association in care of
the funeral home.
