Theodore 'Carl' Hagan
Theodore "Carl" Hagan, 89, of
Newton died Friday (Jan. 14, 2000) at 1116 E. Seventh Apt. 1 in
Newton. He was born Nov. 25, 1910, in LaJunta, Colo., to Theodore and
Fannie (Jackson) Hagan. His parents preceded him in death.
He married Patience Williams Feb. 26,
1935, in Cleo Springs, Okla. She survives of the home. He was a grade
school principal during the 1930s and 1940s in the Preston and Newton
school districts. He was principal at Roosevelt Grade School in
Newton. He also was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Hagan's
Camera Shop in Newton during the 1940s and 1950s. He also owned and
operated carpet and rock shops in Boulder, Colo., from the 1960s
through the 1980s.
He served as president of the Kansas
Professional Photographers Association and was on the board of
directors for the Berean Baptist Church in Boulder. He was a lapidary
craftsman. He polished rocks and made various jewelry with his
products.
Other survivors include: a daughter,
Marceil Hagan of Denver; a son, Robert Carl "Bob" Hagan of
Goddard; two sisters, Billie Bumgarner of Cincinnati and Eileen
McTeague of Boca Raton, Fla.; two grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death by a
sister, Inec Barrett.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at
Ascension Lutheran Church in Wichita with Pastors Scott Goiti and
Keith Kohlmeier officiating. Burial will be in Hainesville Cemetery
in rural Preston.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m.
today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home
in Newton. Memorials have been established with the Radio Bible Class
Ministries of Grand Rapids, Mich., and the American Heart Association
in care of the funeral home.
