Mahlon H. Giffin
HONDO, Texas -- Mahlon H. Giffin, 82,
retired aviation engineer from Boeing, died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000)
at Hondo, Texas.
He was born Jan. 8, 1918, in Sedgwick.
He was captain in the U.S. Army Air
Force during World War II. He flew with an experimental squadron at
Fort Dix, N.J. He worked for Boeing on B-47s and B-52 flight testing.
He left aviation and farmed in
Sedgwick. He became interested in steam tractors and traveled all
over the country. He returned to Hondo, where he retired.
He enjoyed aviation and antique
airplanes.
Survivors include: one daughter,
Suzanne Giffin-Garcia of Alameda, Calif.; one son, Paul Giffin of
British Columbia, Canada; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one sister,
Ernestine; and one brother, Gail.
Memorial services will be announced
later by Guinn-Horger Funeral Home in Hondo.
