Alice F. Ford
Alice F. Ford, 81, died Wednesday (Jan.
19, 2000) at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus
in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Newton
to John and Johanna Pauline (Sauerwein) Williams. She married Richard
C. "Sam" Ford Aug. 1, 1945, in Newton. He preceded her in
death Nov. 15, 1998.
She was a member of First Baptist
Church and Thursday Morning Coffee Club for 16 years, both of Newton.
She was coach for Little League Baseball in the late 1950s. She
played the organ at the Newton Area Senior Center in Newton. She
taught grades from elementary through high school in and around the
Newton area for 35 years. She retired in 1980.
She enjoyed music, art and painting.
Survivors include: two sons, James R.
Ford of Wichita and John C. Ford of Newton; two daughters, Phyllis
Gerstberger of Tularosa, N.M., and Jodi Ford of East Dennis, Mass.;
eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two
brothers, Lester Williams and Gilbert Williams; and one sister,
Lorene Wagner.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday
at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alden Dick
from First Baptist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be in
the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established with
American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
