Mary Joanna Romine
Mary Joanna Romine, 95, of Newton, died
Friday (Feb. 18, 2000) at Friendly Acres Retirement Community.
She was born May 1, 1904, in Darlow to
William D. and Lena Belle (Keedy) Romine.
She attended grade school in Cordell,
Okla., and Newton. She graduated from Newton High School and attended
Bethel College, McPherson College and was a 1928 graduate of the
University of Wichita.
She taught school for many years at
Moundridge, Lahoma, Okla.; Inman and Dodge City. She was a librarian
at Newton High School. She retired in 1967. She was a member of
Church of the Brethren in Newton.
Survivors include: two sisters,
Prudence Price and Ruth Spangler, both of Newton; one nephew; and
several cousins.
She was preceded in death by one
brother, George Romine; step mother, Elizabeth Pierce Romine; and one
nephew.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday
at Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Leah Harness officiating.
There will be a private family burial.
There will be no visitations.

Church of the Brethren and Friendly Acres Retirement Community in
care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
