Thelma Mae Vickers
SUN CITY, Ariz. -- Thelma Mae Vickers,
87, died Feb. 24, 2000, at Sun City, Ariz.
She was born May 20, 1912, in Newton to
Walter and Lydia (Adelsperger) Scherer. She married Edward Vickers in
1933. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She graduated from Newton High School
in 1930, and attended Stephens College for Women in Missouri. She
lived in many different places including Kansas, Colorado and
California.
She worked during World War II as an
inspector in an aircraft plant in California and later as an
executive secretary for Santa Fe Trail and Transportation in Wichita.
She and her husband retired to Sun City
in 1968. She attended many high school reunions in Newton over the
years. She enjoyed nature and reading.
Survivors include: one daughter, Pam
Vickers Haley; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were at Menke Funeral
Home in Sun City.
