John A. Reynolds
John A. Reynolds, 72, of 1212 Trinity
Court, died Monday (March 20, 2000) at his residence.
He was born June 5, 1927, in Aberdeen,
S.D., to Frederick J. and Kathryn Irene (Nicholson) Reynolds. He
married Bobbie Lou Elder July 31, 1947, in Reno, Nev. She preceded
him in death March 21, 1993.
He joined the U.S. Navy Feb. 22, 1945
and was a member until Dec. 31, 1973. He served in the World War II
Korea and Vietnam as a chief warrant officer.
He was a life member of VFW and
American Legion and member of Newton Elks Lodge. He was past member
of the U.S. Navy shooting team. He enjoyed fishing, hunting,
traveling, reading, playing cars and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include: two daughters,
Deborah Jean Hamm of Newton and Kathrine Joyce Reynolds of Longmont,
Colo.; three brothers, James Reynolds, Joseph Reynolds and Patrick
Reynolds, all of Morrango Valley, Calif.; one sister, Lois Lyle of
LaPalma, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death by his
parents.
Memorial services will be 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. Ray
Swearingen from East Side United Methodist Church in Newton
officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today
at the funeral home.
There will be no memorials.
