Peggy DeMoss, 92, of Newton, passed away May 22, 2014, at Newton Presbyterian Manor.
Peggy
Marie Werth was born in Topeka on April 14, 1922, to Vincent C. and
Daisy Summers Werth. She grew up in Topeka, graduating from Topeka High
School and Strickler's Business College. She married Don DeMoss on Dec.
1, 1943, while he was on leave from the Army. Don and Peggy lived in
Chanute, Topeka, Newton and Emporia during Don's working years. Upon his
retirement from Santa Fe Railway, they resided in Tucson and Gold
Canyon, Arizona, Topeka, and, most recently, Newton.
Peggy was a
loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a
member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Chapter AG
in Newton. She enjoyed Bible study, traveling, bird watching and flower
gardening.
Peggy is survived by her sons, David (Sally) of
Girard, and Alan (Bonnie) of Newton; and a sister, Virginia Ellington of
Kearney, Mo. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Matt (Greta)
DeMoss of Frontenac, Erin (Tim) Dolgner of Orlando, Fla., Kelli (Jay)
Unruh of Shawnee, Katie (Paul) Pitts of Bronaugh, Mo., and Amanda DeMoss
of Wichita; and six great-grandchildren, Owen, Kate, and Wyatt Unruh,
and Caden, Levi, and Logan Dolgner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; and two brothers, Vincent and Raymond. Memorials may be sent to Salvation Army. A private graveside service will be held in Topeka.
