Opal S. Strain, 67, died Friday, April 29, 2014 at her Newton residence. She was born April 20, 1947 in Goessel, Kansas to Floyd H. and Ella Marie Marshall Delay. On December 9, 1988, she married John P. Strain in Newton and he preceded here in death. Opal retired as a Deli Clerk for Dillonn's. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Newton. She enjoyed gardeniing, making greeting cards and crafts. She also enjoyed doing word searches. Opal was enjoying getting to know her new puppy and spending time with her pet car. Her family was very important to her and she looked forward to spending time with them and her friends.
Survivors: one son, Douglas Likinns of Okaloosa; three daughters, Grenda (Robert) McCourry of Newton; Crisstie Likins of Haysville and Traci (Charles) of Groton, Conn,, one brother, Edward Delay, ElDorado;; one sister, Carol Roker, Salina; Stepsisters, Tracy (Lynn) Laloutte, Tammy and Hall and Terri and Daryl Reimer, all of Newton; step-brother, John (Katrina Strains Jr. of Wichita; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbnd John P. Strain.
Private family interment is planned.
