Obituary

Amy Ruth Janzen Hershberger, 87, passed away June 13, 2014, in her sleep at home.

She was born May 11, 1927, near Goessel to John M. and Margaret L. Janzen.  Amy was a lifelong resident of Hesston. She married Weldon Hershberger Sept. 27, 1949, in a double wedding with her sister, Helen, and his brother, Vilas. Both families had three sons and two daughters.  Amy was a homemaker, foster mother and ran a marketing business with her husband, Weldon, for more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of the Hesston Mennonite Church since 1949.

She is survived by five children, Kathy (Darrel) Nightingale of Wichita, Don (Pamela) of Clark, Wyoming, Roger (DeAnn) of Richmond, Virginia, Ron and fiancée (Georgia Shaffer) of York, Pennsylvania, and Sharon (David) Taubert of Omaha, Nebraska. Amy had 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Amy was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; three sisters; her husband, Weldon (June of 2000); a grandson; and a great-grandson.

A graveside service was held at Eastlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, June 17. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, June 23, at 4 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church.  Moundridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
