Cooprider, Ross
Ross "Donovan" Cooprider, 85, died June 18, 2014, at Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa.
He was born June 29, 1928, in Newton to Ross and Carrie (Zimmerman) Cooprider. He graduated from Hesston Academy in 1946. Donovan
married Edith "Edie" Schrock on March 9, 1951, at Yoder Mennonite
Church, Yoder. Donovan farmed in Yoder and worked at Cessna Fluid Power
for approximately 30 years. After his retirement from Cessna, he drove a
school bus for the Haven School District, Haven. Donovan was also a
board member for the Haven School District. He was a member of South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, where he served as an elder, sang in quartets, and taught Sunday school. He
was a train enthusiast and ran the trolley at Midwest Old Threshers in
Iowa. In February 2012, Donovan and Edie moved to Wayland, Iowa.
Survivors
include: his wife, Edie Donovan, Wayland, Iowa; two sons, Doug
Cooprider (Diane), Nevada, Iowa, and Barry Cooprider (Holly),
Hutchinson; two daughters, Wendy Leichty (Lonnie), Wayland, Iowa, and
Tami Cooprider, Toponga, California; sister, Anna Joyce Hoff, Newton; 14
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Donovan was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Graveside
service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Yoder Cemetery,
with memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Journey@South Hutchinson,
with Pastor Howard Wagler officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends from
4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Journey@South Hutchinson. Memorials may be
