Phyllis L. Zellers, 92, died June 27, 2014 at her home in Newton. She was born on June 16, 1922 in Peabody, Kansas to Irvin and Irene Draper. Phyllis graduated from high school in Florence Kansas. She mararied Orville A. Zellers on July 6, 1942 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peabody. Orville was then serving in the military at the time to which took them to Ft. Wayne, Indiana. After his being discharged in 1945, they moved to Newton. Phyllis and Orville were married for 52 years.
Phyllis was a booklkeeper for First Kansas Life Insurance in Newton for 16 years. She was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors: son, Roger Zellers (Dorothy) of Wichita; daughter, Linda Kepley (Jim) of Ulysses; sister, Lee Cannon, Newton; brother, David Draper, Grandview, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Orville, and granddaughter, Karen Kepley.
Services will be July 2, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
