Obituary

Walter G. Liggett, 82, died May 14, 2009, at his home, Newton. He was born on Jan. 9, 1927, the son of Grandville Aikman and Silvia Jane Landreth Liggett.

On June 23, 1951, he married Doris Mae Haas. She survives. Other survivors include: son, George A.; daughter Linette R. Martin; brother, Otis; sisters, Esther Bowen, Ruby Glastetter and Ruth McDowell; four grandchildren, Garrett Martin, Lauren Martin, Justin Martin and LaKrista Liggett.

Funeral 3 p.m. Monday at Grace Community Church in Newton. Friends may call 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton; with the family to receive friends between 5 and 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Whitewater Center Cemetery. Memorials to the church in care of the funeral home.
